To those who wonder about the possibility of time travel and the changing of history;
Pigtails revealed to me the mechanisme of time. No kidding. My unstoppable habit of staring at and observing people (I know, it freaks some sensitive bystanders who unfortunately happen to be in my sight) gained me an inspiration one day as I watched a girl with a pigtail walking down the library corridor .
Observe that the weaving in a pigtail always come from the same source of hair, then after much criss-crossing, will end up as one again. I figure that if time is and has always been one, then attempts to change the course of history may be futile as the outcome will turn out to be exactly the same as destined earlier.
Confused? Well, it's like this: imagine the whole hair as time itself. Then imagine the criss-crossing sections of hair as interventions of acts that support and defeat subsidiary historical events through time (switching the events). And imagine the end of the pigtail as the outcome of history. So if time travel becomes possible and there are attempts to alter the course of history, time will retain the same consequences, if not slightly altered, as before the intervention to it has been executed.
Time is intangible, yet it may also be an entity that has its own relativity of weight and mass, like light. If this is true, then certain receptory senses or devices are needed to 'feel' and measure the time. This may explain the existence of people who are born with the ability to 'feel' time and 'see' the future since their sense of intuition has been biologically set to detect the flow of the mass and weight of time. Nostradamus is a well-known example of this type of people. His prophecies have been read and tried to be understood by people all over the world, yet nothing is able to prevent the historical events he predicted from happening even though there are many efforts to prevent and alter them. For instance, even when Hister's name was changed to Hitler, that did not stop him from becoming a powerful German leader as prophesied by Nostradamus. This is similar in the history of the Prophet Muhammad, whose name had been originally stated as Ahmad in the Al-Quran and Bible. Names are one of the subsidiary historical events that cannot change the course of history, but merely switches on the flow of time to move on to destiny.
Therefore, if time is one and has already set the outcome for the future then our path in life may actually be single-dimensional and not multiple as romanticised by the poet Robert Frost and other fiction writers. Destiny will not be created by results, but creates the results of decisions that we made in our life. This would mean that it has been time, and not luck nor human effort, that helps us to eliminate our past opportunities to bring us to the destined events in the present and future. Of course, I am not encouraging people to just sit still and let the time take over the destiny for them. Remember the pigtail; even if time creates the same outcome, interventions must exist to support and defeat the subsidiary events in the flow of history. Sort of like opening the locks of every door in a castle in order to get to the throne room.
This may leave you questioning that if time is an entity that has been created to set events as devised by Fate, surely it means that it must have its own life end? I do not have the authority to make a remark on this. God has. But it is an intriguing thing to ponder about. What if time can die?
Pigtails, they are very adorable to look at. Wonder if that girl is interested in having a conversation with me on this topic over a cup of coffee?
