DENDAM ZOMBIE LAPAR

Don't say 'hangover' - I've had enough of hangovers this morning. Great. I've never been into alcohol and yesterday's incident was not my fault. From now on, I will check all chocolates that people give to me before I consume them. Especially those from Nymo.

I have no mood for anything today. But then again, I still have to tutor those brats at the tuition center. This day sucks like hell. And speaking of hell, I just realized that the Western world is celebrating Halloween today. I've always been curious as to what Halloween is.

What are they celebrating for in a Halloween? Why are people running around in strange and ridiculous costumes (but it looks fun anyway)? What does "trick-or-treat" mean? Damn all these American and European commercialized themes, making me confused trying to understand their culture.

Maybe it's like the Hungry Ghost Festival here. Yeah, maybe that's it. Or probably not. I'll just go through the Wikipedia to check before I rest my case.

I see that the zombie is quite a popular monster during Halloween. My favourite monster. Of all zombie movies on Earth, I think Shaun of the Dead is the best. The zombies look so real that they even make Resident Evil's zombies seem stiff and amateur-ish. And the story plot is so good despite the movie being a horror/comedy, which is why I am not surprised that Shaun of the Dead has spawned hundreds of fan base around the world.

In this movie, Simon Pegg plays the role of a man who decides to turn his moribund life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother, and dealing with an entire community that has returned from the dead to eat the living.

And speaking of zombies, I remember using The Movies game engine to create a short horror/comedy film titled "Dendam Zombie Lapar" two years ago after watching Shaun of the Dead. Edgar Wright's direction is inspirational. He's able to combine comedy, romance, horror, action and adventure fluidly without making the scenes deviate from its original plot. It's like watching a magician pull out everything from his top hat, and yet you know that a white rabbit is going to come out of it sooner or later. If Zombie Kampung Pisang had applied Wright's formula, it wouldn't have ended as a flop.

Here is my short video "Dendam Zombie Lapar" if you want to watch it:

It's about a newly-married couple being attacked by a pack of hungry zombies in their honeymoon cabin. Trapped inside the cabin, the couple tries to escape from the zombies but... you have to watch the video to know what happens next. By the way, my film received a good review by Verhoskan (Dr. David A. Oakes) in his Zombie Movie Database
site. That's quite a personal achievement for me at the age of 18!

If I were to dress up as a ghost or monster for the Halloween, I think being a toyol would be a great choice. I mean... a toyol is green and butt-naked, so just take off my clothes and pour green paint on my body and voila' - instant monster costume. But of course, the risk of getting arrested for going trick-or-treating around the neighbourhood in a birthday suit is inevitable.

In this current ghostly spirit, let's listen to
AZNIL HAJI NAWAWI'S "TOYOL", shall we?

Do you know that this song is actually a cover to
SUDIRMAN'S "TOYOL"?
